Do you suffer from a sore back on a daily basis or occasionally? Are you an active person who would like to learn how to keep your spine strong and flexible to keep doing what you love like running, cycling or any other activity for a long time?

A strong and flexible spine is essential to our well-being and vitality. Our sedentary lifestyle, such as sitting at the computer, driving to and from work and relaxing on the couch, can weaken our backs, contributing to poor posture. Ligaments and tendons shorten over time causing tension and compression in the spine that further contribute to a weak and painful back and shoulders. Factors like stress and trauma can have an effect on our spine, and so can do food we eat.

This 3-hours small group (maximum 7 students) workshop is designed to help you understand the causes of back pain and to learn Yoga stretches and postures that will help you develop a healthier and stronger back.

In this workshop we will learn the following:
• Understanding the causes of back pain - and how to avoid them
• How poor posture contributes to back pain - and how to improve our posture
• How to bend forward and backward in a way that does not hurt our back or neck
• Building a strong lower back and core to stabilize our spine
• Decreasing tension form lower back, spine and shoulders with relaxation techniques
• Practicing simple poses and exercises to strengthen and stretch our back, getting relief from pain almost immediately
• Taking steps to prevent re-injuring ourselves
• We will learn a short (16 minutes) sequence. You will receive a video recording of this sequence to be able to practice at home as well, to be on the way to a strong and healthy spine

This is not a regular Yoga class. It is an interactive seminar where we will combine physical postures, gentle stretches, relaxation as well as discussing all the contributing factors to back pain. If you had enough of living in pain and would like to change your back hurting 'being the norm' come and join us!

Do you find that dealing with stress is an issue in your life? Or would you just like to be more mindful and achieve a peaceful mind? This workshop is all about unwinding and letting the body and the mind switch back into relaxation mode if it forgot how to.
In this 3-hours online workshop we will be looking at stress, anxiety and depression from an Ayurvedic and Yogic point of view as well. Where does the imbalance come from, how can we start to release it, how can we make ourselves more resilient? Our mind is either our best friend or our worst enemy, let's make it our friend.

• Practising Yoga Nidra, the yogic sleep -Yoga Nidra is a state of deep relaxation where the body is completely relaxed yet the mind is wide awake and we become aware of our inner world. We access our subconscious and use this state to implant positive thinking patterns, release bad habits, bring a quality into our life that we desire, heal an ailment in our body or advance our spiritual journey. Please read more about this Yogic technique in my Yoga Nidra blog post.
• You will also receive short videos of some of the breathing, cleansing and meditation techniques we practice in the workshop to be able to practice at home.

Yoga for your Dosha Workshop - 3 hours
An Ayurvedic workshop for establishing your unique constitution of the elements, your Dosha. According to Ayurveda everything in, and around us, is made up of 5 elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. The proportion of these elements vary in people, seasons, life cycles, times of the day. Knowledge of these helps us to have a balanced life.
Time: Friday, 8th January - 3.00-6.00 pm (reference DOSHA)
Location: Zoom online or Brantingham Village Hall
Suitable for beginners
Price: £29 - to book your place please contact Dora 07496404677 or Book in
What is a Dosha? According to Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, everything consists of 5 elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. These elements are grouped into 3 Doshas. Kapha Dosha (Earth and Water), Pitta Dosha (Fire and Water) and Vata Dosha (Air and Ether).
The human body, the seasons, the times of the day each are built up of theses elements/Doshas, only the proportion is different. By geting to know our own unique proportion makes being in balance physically, mentally and emotionally much easier.
As an example, lets take a Vata Dosha imbalance. The air and ether elements are in excess. What symptoms could this mean? For example insomnia, constipation, anxiety, inflexibility in body and mind, dryness of skin. If you think about too much movement and extra dry - you got it. How do we balance this? Warming up, slowing down, focusing inward, grounding.
Suggested workshop schedule:
- Tridoshic Yoga Practice balancing all the 3 Doshas - 75 min
- Short tea break - 10 min
- Finding out our own Dosha - 20 min
- Discussion on the different Dosha characteristics, how to balance them in daily life - 60 min
- Sun Salutation for each of the Doshas that can be practiced at home daily - 15 min

What is a Chakra? Chakras are subtle energy centers in the body. We identify 7 major Chakras in the yogic system. These seven are the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, 3rd Eye and Crown Chakras.
Each Chakra is responsible for the functioning of certain organs, glands, emotions, thoughts. They are connected to subtle sounds, Mantras, colors, physical points in the body. When we have an imbalance in our life, let it be physical, emotional or mental it is useful to know which Chakra it is connected to, as we can take steps to bring ourselves back to balance. This workshop gives us a basic understanding of the Chakra system, gives useful tips on how to balance the Chakras in our day-to-day life.
For example, if we are afraid to speak up our truth and keep swallowing it this can manifest as an imbalance in our Throat Chakra eventually. This center is connected to clear communication, expressing ourselves freely, speaking the truth and speaking positively. Our symptoms could be reoccurring throat aches, constant clearing of the throat. By clearing blockages in the center will clear up the physical center as well. Now this does not mean that every throat ache is a blockage in the Throat Chakra, just an example of how subtle energies can cause physical symptoms as well.
Suggested workshop schedule:
- Balancing the Chakras practice - 75 min
- Short tea break - 15 min
- Discussion about the Chakras - 75 min
- Filling out the Chakra Questionnaire, getting more in touch with which of our Chakras are imbalanced at the moment - 15 min
